GPs and Doctors

Sometimes, you will need to see a GP (doctor) before you can be referred to one of our hospitals. This may be because you need a diagnosis. Also, if you are using private medical insurance your insurer will often need you to have a GP referral before they can pay for the cost of treatment.

As part of a consultation or treatment at one of our hospitals, you may need to undergo tests. Usually, we want to send the results of these tests to your GP so we will ask you for your GP details before you start treatment.

If you are a UK resident you should already be registered with an NHS GP. When you visit your GP you should tell them that you want to be treated privately and they will write the appropriate referral letters. You don’t have to nominate a consultant or hospital for a referral.
